SWINE FLU

PRACTICE VACCINATION PROGRAMME:

We have a limited supply of vaccines and are following the government guidelines for prioritising who to vaccinate first.  Many patients have been contacted now.  It is essential that we have up to date phone numbers and address details of patients, please inform us immediately if your phone/address has changed.  This website will be used to provide further information as we receive it.

Children aged between 6 months and 5 years:  The government recommends that all children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years are vaccinated.  We have some clinics already set up, please phone to book an appointment.

SWINE FLU ADDITIONAL LOCAL INFORMATION:

If you are concerned about swine flu there are several sources of information:

1st: NHS choices website www.nhs.uk for information and frequently asked questions. This also has an online flu symptom checker, as does the NHS direct website (www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk)

2nd: Ring the National Swine Flu Information Line (08001513513) this has pre recorded information about swine flu.

3rd: Ring NHS direct for advice from a nurse adviser: 08454647.

4th: If you have further concerns please contact your GP- please telephone first as you may need a home visit rather than to come to the surgery for an appointment.

Open Surgeries

We are working on improving our appointments system. There are now more appointments for the nurses to see patients with minor illnesses for example sore throats, coughs , colds, urine infections and rashes. There will also be an open surgery, every day. This means that any patient who needs to be seen the same day, but all the appointments are gone, can book in with reception and arrive at 11.30 and they will be seen by a doctor. There may be a wait on busy days.

New Health Centre

Eastville Health Centre is a purpose-built building. Work commenced in February 2008 to build a new health centre on the existing site. The work is halted for the moment but we are hopeful it will restart soon.

During the rebuild parking will be limited though disabled access will be available as well as a drop off and pick up area.

Once the new building is completed there will be good parking provision and the new community healthcare facility will provide services to people in Central & East Bristol, including services currently available only from major hospitals in the city.
