Appointments

Our telephone lines can be very busy when the phone lines open at 8.30. Please be patient – we deal with calls as promptly as we can. If you hear a message that your call is held in the queue it is advisable not to hang up, as doing so only loses your place in the queue.

We offer appointments with the GPs and the nurses that can be booked in advance.  Approximately one third of doctors appointments are allocated to booking in advance (up to two weeks) and two thirds are allocated to booking on the same day.

Routine Appointments

Appointments to see the doctor or nurse can be made by phoning or calling in to Surgery. The phone line is open Monday-Friday from 8.30am- 6.30pm.

Routine appointments with GPs are 10 minutes; routine appointments with the Practice Nurses are 20 minutes.

Our Practice Nurses are able to see patients for minor illnesses such as the following:

• Bites
• Blood Pressure Checks
• Children’s Minor Illness
• Coughs/Colds
• Cuts
• Earache
• Eye Infections
• Hayfever
• Sexually Transmitted Infection
• Skin Problems (eczema/impetigo/acne/rashes)
• Swabs
• Tummy Bugs
• Urine Infection

Please ask for an appointment with the nurse for any of the above.

Open Clinic

We run daily open clinics, for patients who have 'one quick problem' that they wish to see the doctor about.

Home Visits

Please telephone as early as possible if you are too ill to attend Surgery. The doctor on call will visit you the same day, or alternatively may phone you.

Telephone Consultations

Sometimes it may be inconvenient to get to the surgery for an appointment, and you may feel that your problem can be dealt with over the phone. You can arrange to have a telephone consultation with the doctor or nurse.

Please tell the receptionist and she will arrange a time when the clinician can phone you.

Urgent Appointments

If all routine appointments have been taken, receptionists will arrange additional appointments for medical emergencies only.

NHS Walk-in-Centres in Bristol

Experienced nurses are available at the Bristol Walk-in Centre or the urgent care centre at South Bristol NHS Community Hospital to treat a range of illnesses and injuries.

You can visit the Walk-in Centre if:

1. you have a minor cut or wound
2. you have a muscle or joint injury, strain or pain
3. you have a skin complaint – bite or sting, unexplained rash or even severe sunburn
4. you have a stomach ache, indigestion, constipation, or vomiting and diarrhoea
5. you have a minor infection which needs treating
6. you need emergency contraception.

You do not need a booked appointment to be seen at these services.
